Cynthia Lyons
Cynthia first fell in love with clay as a student at Orange Coast College. This led her to Cal State-Fullerton, where she earned an Art degree with an emphasis in Ceramics. Taking additional ceramics classes with Kathryn Stovall-Dennis at Saddleback College reignited Cynthia’s passion for ceramics, art, and teaching. So in 2020, she went back to school to earn her teaching credential in Art from Vanguard University. Last spring, Cynthia was a long-term substitute for Ceramics at SJHHS and in the summer she taught two sessions of beginning ceramics for kids at OCSA.
Cynthia also has experience in blowing glass, weaving, drawing, and painting. As an artist, she works from a place of joy, following her inner child and infusing her work with the playfulness she sees in nature. Botanical imagery and organic shapes figure into her ceramic art through carvings, paintings, and sculptural forms, embodying both the exuberance and stillness of nature.
